Fortunately, more and more communities are coming together to fight against the gap that exists in the industry and demand equal rights for all members regardless of skin color, gender, physical ability, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.
Diversity provides enormous benefits for teams such as greater creativity, varied points of view, and different skill sets that can be very useful in resolving conflicts.
We have compiled a list of communities that to support certain groups to help them thrive in the tech industry – check them out!
Woman Who Code
Women Who Code’s mission is to inspire and empower women to excel in technology careers. This non-profit organization has a community of over 290,000 members who are career-aged tech professionals operating at each level of the industry. They offer their members benefits such as coding resources, leadership opportunities to enhance their careers, scholarships, and tickets to attend conferences and other events. This organization also has a job board where members can search for job opportunities in companies that also empower gender equality in the industry.
Women in Tech
Just like the previous organization, Women in Tech is also a non-profit headquartered in France that aims to close the gender gap and help women embrace technology. Its mission is to empower 5 million women and girls by 2030! They focus on 4 main areas: advocacy, education, business, and social inclusion. Their growing community already has over 200,000 members on 6 continents.
Code Sherpas
Talent accelerator that helps build diverse teams and accompany them towards technical excellence and business impact. Its mission is to train the next generation of high-impact professionals by offering different programs, workshops, and mentoring sessions.
Inclusive Tech
Europe’s first consulting organization for diversity in tech and community for underrepresented groups in the industry. Its mission is to accelerate diversity, equality, and inclusion in tech to see more representation of women, non-binary and under-represented people in the industry at all levels. More than 4,500 members and supporters have already joined this growing community to support the change in the industry!
Tech in Color
This network of tech leaders is focused on expanding visibility and opportunities for senior tech professionals that come from diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds. Tech in color hosts online community events such as seminars, technology talk sessions, and professional workshops for underrepresented tech leaders in Europe.
Out in Tech
Large non-profit community of LGBTQ+ tech leaders whose mission is to create opportunities for their members to advance their careers, grow their networks, and leverage tech for social change. They already have over 40,000 members that actively collaborate with the community, support each other and fight for equality around the world.
