AGORA images is the first global images community, where different brands and media have access to images of any person without intermediaries or commissions. It is a Barcelona based app and web platform for photography, which has become an essential online marketing channel for the photography sector, companies, and brands. This summer it has managed to close its second round of financing with more than € 2M. And Apiumhub has played a crucial role in this process, becoming the technological partner practically since it’s birth. We have been working hand in hand with the software development team of Agora and implemented all the features required to enter the market. Also, we have built robust software architecture to be ready to scale fast. We were in charge of developing Android application and Web platform, and we should admit that working with Agora team was and is a real pleasure!

The main focus has been always the quality of the product and therefore AGORA Images has been working side by side with Apiumhub from the beginning. Our team was focused not only on the development of the digital product but also on the technical strategy, implementation of the option “buy/sell images”, search (Elasticsearch) and Contests.

The relationship began in 2016 when one of the primary objectives of AGORA Images was to develop its digital MVP (Minimum Viable Product) to obtain financing. Apiumhub had previously worked on similar projects with fast and continuous deliveries and big goals. After several weeks, it has become clear that two companies are on the same wave and share the same values. Moreover, Apiumhub found the product and the team so promising, that it decided to become an official investor of Agora Images along with other ones, like Gerard Pique, Mnext Venture Capital (Javier Faus), WidInvest AG (International fund), Soller Invest SL (family of the Rullan ), Kabche Real State (José Kabche) and members of the group of investors of IESE and ESADE BAN.

After closing the second round of investment with a value of more than € 2 million, Agora Images set new objectives, which are focused on implementing improvements in the platform to enter a new phase towards a social network of photography, as well as a new stage of the sponsored contests. And Apiumhub as a technological partner will make it happen!

According to Octavi Royo, Co-founder, and CEO, “this new capital will allow us to continue expanding internationally. In less than 2 years, we have achieved 2 million users – a number that we are confident will rapidly increase in the upcoming months.”

AGORA Images figures:

  • 6 million photographs have been published
  • 2 million photographers
  • 190 countries
  • every 4 seconds, a photograph is published from somewhere in the world

All this passion for the photography, AGORA Images puts into projects and B2B – B2C photography contests so that brands like Fundació FC Barcelona, Wallapop or Yamaha among others, could generate engagement with their fans and clients.

Agora Images is driven by user-generated content, and allows anyone in the world, with a smartphone or a digital camera, to share, sell and give visibility to their images, in addition to giving access, not only to users, but also to companies and brands, to the photo work of millions of people.

Through the contests organized by the AGORA Images team and brands, users send unique high-quality images that correspond to the demand. These contests empower the relationship between users, photographers, and brands that sponsor them. Moreover, other participants, who vote for the pictures also take an important part in the contests and feel closer to the brand. A user with the “best” picture, according to votes, get prizes, not only economic but also experiences or travel. These photographs become a unique marketing action and of great value for any company, that wants to generate engagement with their audience.
